Hello everyone,
Glad to be back here after a long time, and thank you all for the support, since I desperately needed it for the past few weeks (almost a month). Clearly, my mind has been constantly going on its ups and downs at the thought of my POA (and yes he lives in the neighborhood with me, so I encounter him too many times, and too many times we have ended up "messing around" too much). Now I feel like it is time for me to get back with my life. But before I do that, I just wanted to get this song that my POA has got me addicted to and it's called "There you'll be" by Faith Hill. I don't know if many of you all are fans of Faith Hill, but this song, in my opinion, is definitely an example of love addiction. Here are the lyrics
When I think back
On these times
And the dreams
We left behind
I'll be glad 'cause
I was blessed to get
To have you in my life
When I look back
On these days
I'll look and see your face
You were right there for me
[Chorus:]
In my dreams
I'll always see you soar
Above the sky
In my heart
There will always be a place
For you for all my life
I'll keep a part
Of you with me
And everywhere I am
There you'll be
And everywhere I am
There you'll be
Well you showed me
How it feels
To feel the sky
Within my reach
And I always
Will remember all
The strength you
Gave to me
Your love made me
Make it through
Oh, I owe so much to you
You were right there for me
[Repeat chorus]
'Cause I always saw in you
My light, my strength
And I want to thank you
Now for all the ways
You were right there for me
You were right there for me
For always
[Chorus:]
In my dreams
I'll always see you soar
Above the sky
In my heart
There will always be a place
For you for all my life
I'll keep a part
Of you with me
And everywhere I am
There you'll be
And everywhere I am
There you'll be
There you'll be
I just feel like the idea of exaggerating a significant other as more of a godly figure ("my light, my strength" etc) is like putting some one on a pedestal...and though we all have memories of our past relationships, it doesn't mean that our significant other will always be a part of our lives...
I'am not trying to disrespect anything, but I feel like love songs likes these make people without strength fall into the false notions of love. Also movies like The Notebook, Lakehouse, Titanic, The Twilight Series, The Tourist, etc, encourage people to feel as though they cannot be without anyone else.
Another thing that I also noticed is that a lot of people glorify marriage and romantic relationships (also called Matrimania) as if that is the totem pole of our everyday lives. Since I'am 21, I already have people around my age who are married, are having kids, or in the possibility of marriage, and the numerous incidents of people pressing about my relationship status. I might be saying too much. But then I do want to make an initiation to change that concept. Anyways, just needed to let all that out. Does anybody else have their opinion? Would love to here it!
