To remain true to myself but not get into any dramatic controversy I'm posting this thread and info on boundaries. The timing seems appropriate. In recovery and as an addict we need to learn and respect a person's or even a group boundary. In therapy and with my family I learned a whole lot about boundaries. I also spent many years in survival mode and from that I allowed boundaries to be violated...unknowingly of course. I spent a great deal of time learning what my boundaries are and how to make them known without being harsh or coming off angry. Boundaries are NOT rejection, criticism, walls or anything negative. They are an imaginary line that PROTECTS a person's personal and emotional space. They need to be honored and respected and mature adults do understand this concept. Sometimes one may not know they need to set a boundary until something actually becomes an issue.
Aside from boundaries, self righteous attitudes, shaming, d**ning, blaming, finger pointing and other forms of judgment is potentially harmful and dangerous to those in recovery and especially cruel to those from sexual trauma or any sort of trauma. We have been beaten up enough already. This is supposed to be a safe place and as a group we need to remain kind and compassionate for others and remember what brought us here. This is just a reminder...Share your Experience, Strength and Hope. That type of message will have so much more value and actually be heard.
