He had someone battling love addiction (Rachel lost her fiancee to 9/11 and one of Tiger Woods mistresses) on his Celebrity Rehab show. She encountered the same where people belittled love addiction compared to drug addiction, yet as we know it can lead to such despair. I know Dr. Drew also said that many times love and sex addiction comes out after treating alcoholism or drug addiction. This is what happened to me when I overcame my eating disorder.

I love Dr. Drew....he knows his stuff.....I learned about my love addiction from watching his celebrity rehab with Rachel on there....she mentioned it a couple of times....and by the second time I googled love addiction and here I am today.....and this is what happened to me too...being in the 12 step programs with overeaters anonymous....and al anon....once I put it down...the love addiction came up.....it was always there....just didnt surface until the other addictions were under God's care....its a miracle in itself....Sun

Yes, I love that show--Rachel Uchitel is her name.
I was in the throws of love/sex addiction back in the 90's but mostly due to my drug/alcohol addiction and of course underyling childhood stuff. The Love avoidance and co-dependency came with sobriety for me. Though it was all there brewing under the surface anyway and with one person I would be express more LA qualities and then be totally avoidant with another....
