Positive Thinking is an old concept that comes in a new package every 20 years. This one is 2,000 years old.

Susan, my POA told me that I have so much negativity in me... He is right, i always think about the worst..i am tired of everything..from the outisde i look like a very positive and happy person but i am dying inside, with fear from everything... How can i get more positive ? how can i believe people wont harm you, it is so hard to believe when i got so damaged by the people who were supposed to protect me in the first place(my parents) ...i dont wanna blame them, noone wakes up and says ohhh i want to hurt my child, destroy his/her sanity...no, i know but i am so damaged, i cant live like this anymore

Hi lotusflower,
I found the book The Magic from the author of The Secret helped me immensely. I am now in a much better place and I'm a much happier and positive person as a result if the 12 steps and that book.

If you are a Christian the best book on positive thinking is Normal Vincent Peale's The Power of Positive Thinking. Others might enjoy Feeling Good by Burns. PT is a choice. To get started write a gratitude list. Then write out some affirmations and read them often, or better yet, memorize them. When bad things happen, choose to look for the silver lining. For instance, the money from a parking ticket may help pay for the local homeless shelter. Think positive thoughts no matter what. When people die we often think they are in heaven. This is a positive thought. People do this all the time. Surround yourself with optimists. Stay away from cynics.

Images must be a certain size, no more than 250 pixels wide. Copy the url from Google Images and bracket it in the insert image button above (fourth from left under bold, italics, etc.) Remember small images only. Some images take up more space than others. Data magnets will have to be deleted. Thanks.

Just do it. Take positive action. Taking a positive action would lead to becoming more positive. And remember that "garbage in, garbage out". Feed your mind with positive materials only. Avoid toxic stuff, people and places. And believe that you were created for a purpose. I am sorry that you have gone through a lot. We have no control over our circumstances and people around us. But we do not have to let ourselves get into victim mentality or get stuck with what has happened to us in the past. We may not have a good beginning, but we can choose to have a good ending by being true to ourselves and living out our true calling. You are not alone. There is hope for you. Just believe and take (positive) action. From Susan . . . great post. Thanks.

As you start a new week, what are some positive things you plan to do to make your week better? I am going to start crocheting again. I have not done this since I was a child. And it will help me relax my mind. I am still looking for a new job, so I am going to put more effort into this. I will continue to pray and meditate daily, and go to 3 or 4 meetings a week. I will continue to eat healthy and keep my body and mind strong. Please share some positive changes that you can do to make or are making in your recovery journey. Attachments:
