I have been in LAA now (on these forums) since February of 2008 and in that time, I have seen certain cyclical trends occur. Sometimes there is an increase in members who are suicidal and that seems to be the section of these boards that are most frequented. At other times, I have seen fighting, bickering and ugliness. I have also seen depression and constant obsessing about the PoA. These things come and they go.
But lately, it seems that there is a rather large influx of positive people here, that are really struggling and overcoming difficulties. I see many tiny and big successes in people's lives and I firmly believe that those success stories (no matter how big or small) have a way of inspiring and uplifting others to want to achieve the same, to know that recovery and peace is attainable.
I firmly believe that we are all connected in this life-even if we have never met-and that we are connected in our shared human emotions, our struggles and our ability to communicate and feel. And because of our interconnectedness we have a responsibility to all others to spread goodness or pain. Every day we have that same choice. We can bring goodness to the table or misery. And it really inspires me to know that so many of you lately are sharing your goodness.
Happiness, perfection, bliss-- these things do not last. These things are not permanently attainable states of being. But we can always attempt to be positive, despite our shortcomings, pain or hardships, and I think that is what is happening here lately.
I like it. People's positivity here is spreading and that's an awesome thing.
