Shame is a feeling emotion not a thinking emotion such as self esteem
This program is longish but very insightful. Shame as opposed to guilt is discussed.
It is an interview with Brene Brown PhD, Shame and Empathy researcher.
Some quotes from the interview: 'Our imperfection connects us to each other'
'Shame cannot survive empathy'
'Shame is far more likely to cause destructive behaviors than to cure it'
'Shame corrodes the part of us that believes that we can change'
'Shame is I am bad. Guilt is I did something bad'
Men and women with high levels of shame resilience have the following things in common: .... physically recognise when they are in shame, (eg time slows down, tunnel vision, go red..)
..... practice critical awareness
.....reach out, have to share their story
''I know I'm living smart when I'm comfortable being still...'
Think this is well worth watching...

I knew a little about NLP (neurolinguistic programming) but not much.
This video could be of use to us in recovery by helping us to change our thinking. And we all know we have to learn to change...
Very very effective technique illustrated at the end of this video. It worked instantly for me. Now I just have to learn how to apply it.
