Haven't been here in a while. Life has been full between work family responsibilities and my little cabin. But life has been good and I continue in recovery. I recently starting dating a man. He is nice and considerate, kind of quirky. We have a great intellectual connection and certainly a basis for developing a friendship. Whether it turns romantic or not I don't know. I am not addicted or triggered in anyway thus far and I am attracted to him which is a great combination. So my question is this, when and how and how much do I tell him about my addiction? Right now is out of the question we are just getting to know one another but I also feel it is a significant part of who I was and who I have become through working my program. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. I have to say it is good to know that the past is in the past, my POA is in the past, that relationship and a lot of need to look outside myself is in the past. I am grateful for that. Also grateful for any help. Thanks Diane

I am interested in this conversation. I've never thought about outing myself about love addiction the way I would about my alcohol addiction. I mean we would talk about how other relationships had gone sour and I would explain my part and all but I never thought of labeling it. I'll be interested in what others have to say.

Diane- get the book "A Fine Romance", recommended here, by Judith Sills. GET IT!!! Anyone who is still dating needs to read this book! And in my opinion there is no "right" time. There is only the time that you choose to do it, and that will be right. Either he pulls back or he doesn't. But get the book!

Thanks Jaca Will get the book now. Had not really planned on dating, it just rather fell into my lap and so I am seeing how I feel about dating, etc. And thanks for the reminder my time is the right time. Hope you are well!
