I just wanted to share this from my morning meditation from "Courage To Change" (Coda and Al-Anon)
"There have been days when many of us felt that good times would never come again. After so many disappointments, it seemed to painful to continue to hope. We shut our hearts and our minds to our dreams and goals and stopped expecting to find happiness. (This is not just talking about relationships, this also applies to your everyday life, such as jobs, and just starting new hobbies, and learning how to live life regardless) If we don't have goals in life, we just stop living. We weren't happy, but at least we wouldn't be let down anymore. (We are not our feelings, feelings are not facts, we have to keep moving forward no matter what).
Caring, hoping, wanting--these are risky. But as we recover from the effects of our addictions, we may find that to simply avoid disappointments; we want more, we want rich, full, exciting lives with joy as well as sorrow. Just finding the willingness to believe that joy can exist in our lives today can be very challenging, but until we make room in our hearts for good times, we may not recognize them when they arrive. (Don't compare your life to others, make your own life and happiness). My motto today is "Less is More". I don't need a lot of material things to make me happy now, they don't last anyway.
Nobody is happy all the time, but all to us are capable of feeling good. We deserve to allow ourselves to experience every bit of joy life has to offer."
Today Reminder:
"I will not let fear of disappointment prevent me from enjoying this day. I have a great capacity for happiness."
Also if you don't have any expectations of others, you will not get disappointed. Expectations only led to resentments. People are human, and they will let us down, daily. I struggle with this, still, but I will not let myself get angry and resentful anymore. People will not ruin my days any longer. I have wasted a lot of years doing this.
"I want to grow in my willingness to make room in my life for good times, having faith in their arrival and patience in my anticipation"
Today I can just enjoy being present in the moment, dealing with life on life's terms, all of this was foreign to me, when I first got into recovery, but the end result of all of this, is a more peaceful existence.
Don't give up before the miracle happens. ;-)
PS: Have a wonderful day!!!!!!!
