How eating disorder and love addiction relates to each other? Kindly explain it more here so that all members here can get help.
From Susan . . . usually, the food addiction is a dual disorder or a subsidiary addiction and should be treated accordingly. I treated my food addictions with Overeaters Anonymous. I lost 150 lbs. and maintain it. I no longer purge. I sometimes under eat.

Hi fivesisterranch,
Many of us will diet in order to attract the attention of a POA or save a relationship with a POA. For some of us, dieting triggers an obsession with food and an eating disorder if we have the genetic makeup. The diet is usually the trigger and the genetic makeup well, exists or doesn't.
That's why some people can diet and it doesn't turn into an eating disorder.
So the addictions can bounce off each other like alcoholism and sex and love addiction - some people drink more to engage in sex addiction and vice versa. Sometimes they have the same root cause but must be treated differently. My eating disorder treatment is different from my love addiction treatment, yet both are quite similar and bounce off each other -- I'll be dissatisfied with my size, diet, attract male attention, get sucked back into love addiction... Or develop a crush on a man, diet to win his attention, then it turns into a relapse of the eating disorder.
that's the vicious cycle that I try to avoid.

I had an eating disorder and food addiction for a very long time. It was worse than my love addiction. I used foods for all the wrong reasons. One of them was to express my hidden, suppressed emotions and find comfort from eating. However, I did not ever diet for anyone.
I believe in changing from inside and it would carry over to external. Make it a change of lifestyle and not to conform to anyone's standard.
I treated its root cause and as a result, I no longer have its symptom of addiction. I have been enjoying this freedom.
