First of all, sometimes it is okay to be a "woman", some obnoxious people only understand that. Lol
But you are asking the right questions now..
Set your boundaries
Know your triggers
If you get in a situation that feels uncomfortable, remove yourself from the situation for a minute to gather your thoughts
Be assertive, not aggressive, always speak your mind if something is bothering you.
Dont drink alcohol, so you stay in control of yourself, very important now.
Use this as a learning experience to see how much you have grown in your recovery.
Stay connected to this forum for support, your recovery family is always here for you.
Have fun and stay in control of yourself!!!

I agree with Loving My Life - staying away from alcohol is best so that you can keep your self-control. Avoid your triggers. Know that you can do this! You are allowed to go out with your friends and have fun without letting your addiction get in the way. Let this be a night about you and your girls - try to not even notice the guys around. Good luck and have a GREAT time!

Blessed this is where you can apply what you have learned in recovery also, and apply to your everyday life situations as well.
You will start to see how different things are, and how people will start to react to you differently, in a positive way. You will hear things like, you have really changed, and that is a good thing, unless people are jealous, you will notice that as well. It really is a awesome feeling, when we start taking care of ourselves.
This is how is has worked for me also!!!

I agree with LML.
In addition, stay honest with yourself (know your limits and if you are ready or not for it.) Pray about it too. If you are in doubt and restless, you can always turn around and change your plan. Remember, your recovery comes first. Those bands come and go. And if a bar is a toxic place for you, why put yourself at risk this time?
I hope you enjoy your time while keeping yourself in reality check for your own good.

That is so great that you didn't do anything the night that you went out! Congratulations and good for you! I'm glad you could have fun just hanging out with your girl friends.
I know - the obsessiveness thing is just crazy. I obsessed over my crush all weekend long. It's not like I have access to him or anything. Just keep remembering he is married - throw away his phone number. Stop listening to his music. You did handle yourself really well the other night - be proud of that! You can stop this right now if you want to...just decide to stop it. I know it's easier said but if you don't contact this guy chances are no more contact will be made so just make the firm decision to control yourself and not contact him. And keep on posting here.
