Any suggestions? I want to work on feeling closer to god/higher power or spirituality. I feel I need to begin this step as it has felt absent and I have felt presence in the past but have not recently. Maybe because I ignored signs for so long?
Please feel free to give me ideas suggestions..
I do find yoga and mediation help and sometimes walking in nature or being in nature or going to church but want to improve in that area...

Hi Ladies, I find it helpful to consistently remind myself of the following when having a negative emotion/thought/experience: 1) I am always being cared for at all time by my HP. 2) Understand that all the things happening in my life-good and bad-are all happening to grow me up. Make me a better version of the person I was yesterday. 3) I have limitless access to inner peace at all times-I just have to tap into that part of my body 4) I am loved by my HP. Unconditionally. Sometimes what I do is look at the beauty all around me and remind myself-"one day, this ____ (light, street corner, building, shoe, etc.) was just a thought in someone's mind and now it's a reality that I can appreciate and look upon". And in nature, I love looking at the magic that's around us and realize how lucky we are that we live on a planet that provides us with everything we could ever need. I hope this helps

I have found Imaging very very helpful for myself to get in touch with a spiritual power. Imaging is a combination of prayer & meditation whereby you visualise whatever positive element you wish to & keep practising it on a daily basis. Try to get Norman Vincent Peale's book. It is about imaging. He was a preacher at Church, practised imaging & the power of prayer. In Europe, the cast system prevented application of this idea. In American it took root with the book of Benjamin Franklin, Poor Richard's Almanac, where he said God helps those who help themselves.
First notation I can find is in the Bible. See image below.
So positive thinking was about making money in the 1700's.
Then the traveling hypnotists said it will heal sickness. 1800's
Then Mary Baker Eddy said it will cure illness. Christian Science.
Then it became a Christian ideology. Norman Vincent Peale.
Then it became a self-help philosophy, see Dianetics.
Then The Course in Miracles, 1970's
Don't Forget, "The Secret" see Oprah.
Mariann Williamson, Letting Go of Fear.
Then is became Cognitive Behavioral Therapy [CBT] as described in "Feeling Good" by David Burns.
Old idea, repackaged every twenty years.

denverdignityI recently discussed this with my therapist who has a strong relationship with her HP. She said a good starting point would be when sitting in nature, look at everything around you in awe. And when you feel those connections say out loud, "Thank you God, this is beautiful".

Any suggestions? I want to work on feeling closer to god/higher power or spirituality. Sometimes walking in nature or being in nature Hey denverdignity, Hope you are well! I am in a similar situation. I have tried few things which does make me feel positive. Walking in nature or being in nature is amazing. Personally, Rain, water, ocean and chirping birds calms my senses and takes me to another experience outside of me (spirituality for me) so I transfered some music from youtube onto my phone which I hear when I wake up and going to sleep. Sharing some with you, hope you will like them. 1. Sound of rain and bamboo flute (my favourite) 2. Sound of ocean waves 3. Sound of chirping birds Love and compassion, Sobriety

aromatherapy with essential oils is particularly helpful to me with meditation and music on the links you sent. I used to have a diffuser that would spray out essential oils it was amazing.

I had my spiritual awakening in early 1983. It was so beautiful that I wanted more. Soon after a book came to me entitled "Celebration of Discipline." It was about keeping spirituality fresh once you have your epiphany. I created this list from the ideas I learned in this book. I added a few of my own.
Celebration of Discipline 12 Steps to a Stronger Spiritual Life
Susan Peabody, 1983
1. Meditation Get quiet and listen to God through your feelings and intuition.
2. Prayer Talk to God (out loud or in your head) as if you were talking to a close, personal friend.
3. Humility God is a higher power. You are a lesser power. You know this. You are humbled by it.
4. Study Read, write, learn, listen.
5. Simplicity Slow down. Experience and appreciate the simple things in life—nature, music, friends.
6. Solitude Take some time to be alone and listen to your own inner music. Putter around your nest.
7. Submission Surrender everything to God—as you understand God.
8. Service Reach out to people in need and give of yourself and your resources.
9. Confession Find someone you can trust and confide your deepest, darkest secrets to them. Release the shame.
10. Worship Be in awe of your Higher Power. Bow your head—metaphorically or literally. Be thankful for the grace that has been freely given to you.
11. Celebration Be grateful! Raise your hands in joy and celebration. Sing, dance and be merry.
12. Guidance Work with a mentor who is in constant contact with God.

My feelings about spirituality keep evolving. In 1982 I started as an agnostic. Then I read that "Ignorance is contempt prior to investigation," [Herbert Spenser] and "The Chapter to the Agnostic," in the AA book Alcoholics Anonymous. I began to slowly change my mind about God.
Years later I worked with a professor of theology who asked me about my spiritual awakening because he had studied religion and never had one. My pastor also said he envied me for the same reason. So I believe our spiritual awakening is a gift. We get a visitation at least once and all we have to do is move forward [see Celebration of Discipline].
I did prepare for my spiritual awakening as I explain in my first book. The most important thing was being open minded and praying for the gift---like a child waiting for Christmas.
The New Testament says: "Unless you become like a child you will never enter the kingdom of God." So let your inner child pray for you. . Then move on to Step 3: Put ye first the kingdom of God and all else will come to you." [New Testament]
P.S. I love to quote Biblical wisdom, but I do not take the Bible literally. The New Testament was organized by an council of men, and the gnostic texts about the power of the feminine were hidden away until we found them back in the 1940's. See the gospel of Thomas and Mary Magdalene from the Dead Sea Scrolls.

A diffuser is a device that you put water in and a few drops of essential oils and it acts as a vapourizor/humidifier. So, you end up with a beautiful smell of essential oils in a room. Above there's a pic

Good question...
For me, it is a personal relationship with God. First, I surrendered to him, acknowledging him as my Lord and Savior. Then I pray and read the Bible, listening to preachings, attending fellowship service, etc.
