I was just diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and thought about this definition.
When I have a PoA (and thankfully I DON"T have that now!), my thoughts about him and our conversations go on for 24 hours through my head. It's almost uncontrollable, although I practice thought stopping and distracting techniques from DBT and CBT.
Has anyone experienced this diagnosis and how it relates to Love Addiction?

Yes, I have a touch of OCD -- and it greatly affects my Love Addiction, if left unchecked. My thoughts loop around and around, but awareness and therapy are helping me keep thoughts in check. But it is not easy sometimes -- I am a work in progress! Check out this website and this author -- he is a psychiatrist and his book is a gem ("You Are Not Your Brain"). He has strategies to cope with OCD, and they are effective if you work them. Honestly, I would rather work them, than 'work' my unhealthy looping thoughts! On his website, he also has a talk on the Neuroscience of Habit. Well worth the time to watch! Knowledge is power... jeffreymschwartz.com/Blessings, HaveFaith

Brighter Tomorrow I have OCD. Now that I don't obsess about love I obsess about keeping the kitchen clean and trying to make everything around me "perfect" including my family. I am driving everybody nuts and now I get to work on another addiction. The addictive process is all about obsessing. But it is progress not perfection. I would rather have a clean kitchen that the black eye my PoA gave me.

The place I go to won't give me that diagnosis, but I have had that diagnosis in the past, and I know I'm bipolar. And I have OCD. And I love Alan Robarge's videos.
