I have read a lot of books, visited websites and watched youtube videos on thinking positive. Working on stopping the negative and sometimes all consuming thoughts and replacing them with positive ones. Our brains are so used to thinking a certain way that we really have to retrain them. It has helped me immensely through my withdrawal also.
Also reading and understanding about why I have done the things I have, where it all has come from, has helped. I understand better how my past, events that have happened to me, my upbringing, play a part in how I handle situations now and why I crave certain things and cling to others. I also understand that I am an adult in charge of my decisions, so knowing and understanding is almost empowering to make better adult decisions now.
So you can do it. Read, learn and empower yourself. Get a therapist if you need to for the rough stuff you need help working through. It took me so long to figure myself out. But I'm glad I did.
Tell yourself that you are going to save money, and you will. You're in control and you can do it! We are all here for you!
Go take a class to learn how to manage your money. Yes, sure, you "already" know how to manage your money but you're not doing it. No! Go take a class. Sit through it. Learn more. Repeat the actions over and over and make managing money the healthy way a HABIT. A physical habit. The only way to change the subconscious isn't by thinking. It is by doing.
