This is the way we fall. First we lose our balance, teetering precariously on the edge of uncertainty, until, mercilessly, gravity takes over. You can’t outshine gravity, but you have to defy gravity to get up.
We fall into sin in the same way; first we venture out of the ring of self-preservation, compromising our way toward the edge, we look down and intentionally we slowly lean over and lose balance; then the ground was so far below us, we could barely make it out through the grey mists that whirled around us, but we could feel how fast we are falling, and we know what is waiting for us down there. Oh, we know very well, indeed. It was the place where we were conceived. It smells like home, yet, the stench of it disgust us to the core. Just one cry and He will swoop down and bore us on eagle's wings.
But we both know what usually happens, we didn't cry out for help...
Unlike, defying gravity to get up; you can't get up from any sin by defying God, but through submission in the form of repentance. When an apple fell from Adam's hand and fell toward the earth, it hit the earth and that was it. Yet, God loves him still. In Christ, when we fall from grace, the grace, ever so slightly, fall toward us as well.
We actually never hit the bottom of the pit, He swoop down and saved us still...
I'm not encouraging anyone to sin or deliberately play with our addiction, so that grace may abound.
Not for one bit.
I'm not also encouraging a pursuit of righteousness or recovery to the point of self-reliance that we put our faith in our own zeal or discipline.
Not that as well.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
And our faith is in Christ and in Christ alone. Repentance is a realization that we are falling and growing in repentance itself, and nothing and no one can save us, but Christ.
My prayer for y'all is for you and I, we; the church and the elected lost will continuously realized or at the appointed time came to realize that loving God is loving Him like He's a true Saviour who actually saved us from the things we thought we need rather than a Santa Claus who merely gave us some whatever we want; loving God is loving the fact that He first love us. Our worst days are never so bad and far gone beyond the reach of His grace. And our best days are never so good that we are beyond the need of His grace. We will break free from bondage of dos and don'ts which says God will love us if we change, but hold on to what God really says that He is changing us because He loves us.
If you're teetering right now, may it be His grace that cradles you. Enjoy the sway, eh? He definitely know how to rock you, it was Him who move the moon and the stars, the cloud and the rainbow anyway...
