This morning I had a wild idea. I felt an urging to write down the names of all the men I’ve been addicted to.
At first, I hated this idea. I don’t want to remember the past. It’s painful.
But then I got an idea I liked better. How about if I write those names down on a piece of paper, and then burn the paper?
I could make it into a sort of ritual. Symbolic things like that really appeal to me, and seem to help.
With my penchant for DIY spirituality, this could be a great idea.

lostkate(stbFoundKate):
Why not? What have you got to lose? Except a few moments, a piece of paper and a match or lighter. I've heard of people doing exactly that - writing it, burning it and seeing the ashes form and fall away. Just like the dream relationship has IRL.

I wonder if you want to remove past and creat new life. Studies show that experiences change our brain cells and leave a permanent mark. So the solution is not to forget the past but to move past it by letting go of resentments, finding a better life, and making lemonade out of lemons. Every now and then something will trigger the past and you just process it and move past it. What your mind forgets your body remembers. I like to use the expression "transcend" rather than cure when it comes to the past. So you are right about creating a new life but wrong about "removing" the past. I say this with the best of intentions.
