Since the book, Women Who Love Too Much, came out people have been debating whether or not we can love too much.
Kinds of Love
Agape: God Paternal: Father for child Maternal: Mother for child Self: Self Esteem Familial: Family Platonic: Affection for friend Erotic: Passion Preferential: Romantic Love Desire: Sexual longing Romantic: Projected Love Tough love: Love with boundaries
My friend Lori says you can only get addicted to desire because it releases chemicals into our blood stream that make us euphoric. But I disagree. My love for my son is maternal, but I definitely love him too much and feel the relationship is emotionally incestual.
What do you feel about this moving away from the idea of love being addictive. Lori says that the people who have accepted the idea of love addiction are not ashamed, but her younger clients don't want to accept this label and prefer to identify with the term "attachment dysregulation."

For me it was, I think, a mix of
Erotic: Passion Preferential: Romantic Love Desire: Sexual longing
but there was even Platonic love and a terribly triggering tenderness...
