When we are no longing loving too much, friends with whom we could once commiserate endlessly may now strike as obesessed and unhealthy. Mutual misery as a criterion for friendship is replaced by more rewarding mutual interests. So what frequently happens with recovery is that as our patterns of relating change so do our circle of friends.

This is SO true of me and my friend A. I think she loved me so dearly all those years because i was suffering. But once i decided i no longer wished to suffer and be miserable, we had A LOT of problems relating to each other. We're still friends, but I sometimes have to remind her that i don't want to walk down that road anymore...
