The Big Book describes fear as a "thief." This thief is the biggest obstacle to staying sober. Fear tries to get us to say, "Why try if I might fail?" When fear knocks, have courage. Have faith that if you work a recovery program, fear will disappear. Combine that COURAGE with LOGIC and it's two against one against FEAR. The logic is you need to stay sober to improve your life (even to stay alive). F.E.A.R. stands for False Evidence Appearing Real. LOGIC is the real evidence. You can stay sober if every time you feel fear, you think COURAGE plus LOGIC!
To do: Every time you feel FEAR today, vanquish it by saying COURAGE plus LOGIC beats fear.
