Hi. I started recovery last month. I attended a program where the speaker shared that she is a recovering love addict. This was the first time I learned about love addiction. I knew for a long time I had a problem, but I did not know it was an addiction.
It took a while to accept I am a love addict. Once I moved passed the feelings of shame and sadness, I rejoiced in my Higher Power (God) leading me to a realization that not only am I a love addict, but there are recovery programs.
I am grateful. I am reading Addiction to Love and attending group once a week. This is not my first Twelve Step Program, but I did not get very far in my last one. So I need help getting accustomed to the process (when do I get a sponsor, how does that even work).

Welcome, TMS. We’re glad you’re here. It sounds like you’re already starting the work you need to do for recovery. Please feel free to mine this website for information. And, if you feel able, please post your own questions and thoughts.

Welcome to LAA. I did not know what was wrong with me until I read Robin Norwood's book, Women Who Love Too Much." I cried and then started a 12-Step program that is now LAA. I still remember the moment that changed my life. Never give up on love. Just make sure that you make room for self-love and the love of God. This is the secret to recovery. Attachments:

Thanks for the warm welcome! I will bring my questions. I plan to attend a step study and post about the steps on this board.
