THE DEATH OF THE IDOL
I have written of you cutting into my heart sealing in blood pages like leaves and tears like the wind. I have given my all till I was no longer there, till I touched the emptiness which from the start pressed me from within like metal. I have tried. And I’ve fallen into error and a thousand times I’ve tried again only to fall once more. Now there’s nothing left but a smile and a hand that shuts this book with no more fear. It’s almost sweet, this goodbye forever. In my arms I clutch a colourless memory. Screaming I celebrate the death of the idol.

This poem is beautiful. Yes, we do have to let go of idolatry and pay more attention to our real Higher Power and ourselves. Thanks, for sharing this. Attachments:
