One of the ways that babies grow and change is by learning from their parents what to do and not do. If you did not learn these important lessons, and are a bit confused by what to do and not do, I suggest that you find mentors and role models and listen to their advice. Mentors and role models help you because they hold the mystery of how to do what you’re struggling to do. They can give you good advice, and if you observe them carefully, they can demonstrate what you need to learn. Interestingly enough, you don’t even need to understand how they do what they do. You just need to imitate them and follow their advice until it changes you. “Fake it till you make it,” as they say in 12-step programs.
