When a parent makes a companion and confidante of a child a violation of that child's boundaries has occurred.
Any child who is elevated to peer status by an adult has been taken over to serve the adults need. In order to do no further harm and to obtain the solace, guidance and support we need, we must turn to adult peers, who are also seeking recovery from relationship addiction and will share with us their experience, strength and hope.
