I have been practicing something new-to-me for my seventh step, which is something that I've heard other people do as their third step in various programs. Every morning, I ask my higher power to lift a bunch of character defects - generally a mix of ego trips, the desire to control things, resentments, anger, judgment, and anything else that comes up for me.
It's amazing! I have experienced tons of serenity that had often been absent since I started my current very stressful job. It is remarkable to experience things that I would normally get angry off or stressed out about, and see my brain start to try to get worked up about it, and then not have my emotions rise to match - it's like stepping on a step that isn't there, except not jarring. The opposite of jarring.
Has anyone else experienced this? What else do you do to turn your will and your life over that you enjoy and want to share?

Yes. It's called many things: "letting go and letting God", observing yourself from the third person and being aware of how your thoughts create feelings and that you don't have to be a slave to all of that.
I just try not to over-think. I use my brain when I need to and when I notice when it is starting to ruminate unproductively, I gently let go and move on to something else.
When fear comes up, I just tell God that I trust him/her and move on with my day.

yeah for me the biggy is anxiety, about others or myself. As long as I remember, giving it to God is the most relaxing thing ever!
