Thoughts for Today
Are you living with enslaving hand-me-downs? Perhaps a series of relationships ending in heartache ... a cycle of career failures ... an addiction ... poor self-esteem ... depression ... or other life-controlling issues.
No matter what your situation, there is hope. You can find freedom from enslaving hand-me-downs through Christ. He paid for your release from these bondages with His precious blood. And He promised, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36 NIV).
Consider this ...
So how can you find this freedom for your life? The first step is to confess your sins to Jesus, ask His forgiveness, and invite Him to be Lord of your life. "But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God's promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ" (Galatians 3:22 NLT).
Then you can find help for your walk in freedom in the Bible. Its words are God's special message to us. In it you will find truth. "And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32 NLT).
The truth of God's Word brings freedom as we listen--and obey. "But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don't obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don't forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it" (James 1:22-25 NLT).
"For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God." 1 Peter 1:18-19 NLT
Prayer
Father, I believe that Jesus paid the price for my sins. Please forgive me for all the wrong I've done. I invite Jesus to be Lord of my life. Help me to know You better by reading the Bible. Help me obey what I read by serving you and walking in the freedom Jesus has provided. In Jesus' name ...
