I have a stress related heart condition. Its been acting up lately. Last doctor appt he asked me what in my life caused the stress. Boy the list is long. During my prayers I had the idea (thanks God) to list the things the stress me and make a plan on how to deal with them with less stress.
So if you have any ideas on how to deal with stress post them here.
The things that cause me stress are my job (I hate it plus its a very stressful job), raising a special needs kid, overbooking myself, dealing with a questionable relationship and still be slightly codependent. I am getting better at saying No and taking care of myself but I still have room for improvement.
I can deal with the overbooking myself by making an effort for time to myself and for time to just do nothing. Plus I have to get used to not having the house, car, yard perfect all the time. And not trying to be everything to everyone.
Can still use more suggestions.
Thanks

I think if the things(e.g. job) that cause you stress are "changeable" by you, you can manage to "replace" or overcome them w/ GOD's help. By focusing on GOD, praying, journaling, and exercises I'm keeping myself from distress. (Eustress is a positive stress). Also by learning how to detach myself. I learned to live one day at a time by faith. I enjoy the moment and believe that the best is yet to come. It helps to "loosen up" a bit also. You know to not to "overly" watch each and every move we make. I believe in just doing my best and leaving the rest and the result to GOD. You are a strong person and I really admire you. I believe you can keep on progressing. I genuinely wish you well.

I hate saying this, especially since you do this already, but exercise really helps me. But not too much - moderately. I will run myself ragged if you let me.
SO it's really the basics. The MAIN thing for me is sleep. my 8-9 hours sleep is non-negotiable. If I get less than that for more than a night or 2 I snap. Which is prob why I have a meltdown Fridays.
Meetings, and like you said, I overcommit and attempt to over achieve and in the long run it sets me up for more stress. Trying to remember this!
When I do meditate, it helps. I discovered some easy guided meditations and yoga moves on the Kripalu website.
I cannot imagine how hard it is to raise a special needs kid.
Also, sometimes I just need time to CHECK OUT. Like, watch dumb tv, or wander through stores, something relatively mindless...

Sorry I havent been around to reply. I appreciate your input and will try the suggestions. I have been tired last few days. I think a weekend alone (cept with my dog) in the mountains would help too. I told myself just today to meditate more. And we have a Kripalu facility near here with tons of classes. I to like dumb tv and mindless store wandering too. I need to give myself permission to do these things without guilt and thinking of all the millions of chores that need to be done.
