kisscola, welcome to the laa forum. I believe your asking about a family member? when you an addict no matter what kind of addiction your dealing with you dont just "snap out of it", you work at recovery on a daily basis, sometimes it can takes years to recover. and getting involve with family day would help you understand so much. Al-anon and co-dependent meeting would also help. glad you are here. keep reading the thread that you can relate too. glad your here.

kisscola2000....welcome to the boards......i am glad u found this site too.....dont worry about being at a loss for words...and how to react......Sometimes we dont have to say anything....that in itself says alot....and since being in recovery....i do my best one day at a time not to react....because recovery teaches me to act in stead of react....it also teaches me...that we are not responsible for what people say or do....so we dont have to react or say anything what so ever....That is recovery....one day at a time....please keep posting and reading....it helps alot....you will find out...be gentle with yourself....You could always ask...how can i support you...today....or sorry i couldnt make the family week....I would if you could fill me in on what i missed....It's been said and i am know its true that addictions is a family disease as well...Just be yourself...think of how you can take care of yourself today....and this will help this person as you help yourself...Sun

I'll second what Carolyn said - any of the Al-Anon or co-dependent type meetings would help you, since your life has been affected by the behavior of another.
I think it's awesome that you came here looking for help and advice!
