I notice that hardly anyone is responding to the self esteem threads. Yet so much of what people do write shows that they lack self esteem and do not realize their self worth. I for one am a good example of someone who suffers from low self esteem. Perhaps it is easier if we talk about our low self esteem and how it affects us in our relationships with others. We feel we can accept poor treatment from seductive witholders or love avoidancts when we are worth so much more. Every one of us deserves a nice, loving, caring person who can meet some of our needs. Can anybody state just one way that they are taking care of themselves and how they have been good to themselves?

No, I don't know why. But we can't get enough about self-esteem. If there is more than one thread that is ok. If everybody could contribute to all the threads that would be great. Do some research if you have to and add your thoughts.

Butterflygirl OK. Actually, I think in one of your threads you recommended "Celebrate Yourself" by Briggs. I am reading that now and I find it very helpful. This self esteem issue is so difficult. I have been treated poorly in my marriage for many years. We have gone to couples therapy for the past year so his poor behavior has stopped. I gues he is just being accountable. He denied any poor treatment yet he has stoppied it ! He doesn't want me to tell the therapist about his abusive treatment of me. Going back to my childhood, my mother was so abusive and it's all just something so difficult to deal with....but I'm trying.
