I have to say my esteem has gone from non-existant to 100 times greater within less than 2 months. This, I feel, has come from a much needed detachment phase from my addiction. I no longer depend on her for security and joy and happiness and peace. I have been forced to depend on me, when there has been no one else to depend on. I depend more on God and see myself as loved by the only one that matters. I know he has a strong purpose for me and my life and it is not for my blessing alone but, primarily for his purpose. He will open doors for me in that direction and I will seek his will and confidently follow. I realized I had this at one time, but somewhere along the way, I lost it to the lust of the flesh and the pride of life.
Sorry, for those who don't believe. He just fills me with emotion sometimes deeper than even I understand.

Godsguy - I am learning the same lesson...just haven't found the joy and happiness part. My husband wanted to separate and has filed for divorce. He was my best friend. I had fun with him - more than anyone else I know now or have known in the past. I am finding it difficult to find joy and happiness just from God alone. I want to feel that - but I am often just overcome with the loss that I feel. How do you get that joy to stay with you consistently?

I want to know about the "constantly" part.
I don't feel God's love constantly. I guess that is why I have my good days and bad days.
There is a really cool gospel song, called "Never Would Have Made It". In a blog about the song, someone noted that the song never referred to God or Jesus or any other diety. I feel God's love in the people that he puts in my life, particularly the ones who tell me that I can be by myself and be okay. They encourage me to stay home, get some sleep, or watch a DVD and enjoy being with me.
Sometimes, when you feel so low, only some Higher Power is capable of sending such messengers. So look for them, they are probably already in your circle of friends and family.

I do not belive in god But am very spiritual. However i was very moved by what you wrote . There is never any need to apologise. thank you . what you said was very beautiful .

Noone experiences joy, or positive feelings, all of the time. The idea is faith. Faith that God or your HP loves you ALL THE TIME and will see you through and you will experience joy and happiness once again. This will give us sure peace and rest even in our down times.
