Cultivating whatever needs to be developed in yourself means not waiting for him to change before you get on with life. Instead of making your plans dependent on his cooperation, make them as though you had no one but yourself on whom to lean. Consider how you would do if you didn't know him. You'll find there are many exciting ways to make life work for you stop depending on him and make use of all your other options.

And I would say that goes with everything in life, chrissy. That seems to be what successful people do - they don't wait around, they get to it. And if it doesn't work out - they go to the next thing. That's the kind of behavior I would like to develop in my recovery.
