I am a torch bearer and recently I saw the movie fifty shades darker and can't seem to stop being addicted to it and then cry with sadness.
Has this movie affected anyone else? Should I stop watching it?

The only thing that makes me cry about this series is that anyone takes it seriously. It is pure fantasy, written for entertainment. The author herself says so, in an interview with Chicago Tribune. She's been married for years, has a couple of teens and has made a nice living off this drivel.
It's junk food for the mind, and for the love addict, it's junk food for the heart, mind and soul. As a recovering Love Addict, I won't read these books -- my focus must remain on reality and I can't afford to languish in cheap fantasy or anything that could trigger my addiction.

If it makes you cry with sadness every time you watch it. You should DEFINITELY stop watching it! Why do you want to cry?! You want to feel GOOD right? Step away from the fifty shades. Put on a comedy instead.

I havent seen them for the same reason I stay away from music, films and anything that allows me to feed yhe deep saddnest that threatens to overwhelm me and pull me into fifty shades of hell again. I protect my current relationship but not indulging and then making het deal with the sadness that is mine alone to deal with- not hers. Tv is another thing. I am currently rewatching a season of a show that i watched when I wad in denial and now I see how it fed my addictive behaviour. But I can watch it with detachment so I feel it is ok. I am doing ok. I have ordered more books to help with my sobriety and are about to start more therapy and boxing classes if I can find the energy somehow. I wish you the power to stay in health.
