Narcissist Love Addicts
I created this term years ago when I was watching the OJ Simpson trial. OJ was obviously addicted to his wife Nicole, but he was not codependent. He was abusive and violent according to the tapes I heard on television. He was also an avoidant using other women as a way to avoid real emotional intimacy with Nicole. I told a friend of mine, who was a therapist, about this kind of love addict and she said, "I know this type of love addict exists, but what is the point in writing about it. A narcissist rarely comes in for treatment. They are too proud to admit something might be wrong with them." I agreed so I let the whole think drop for awhile. A narcissist has a fragile ego and can't admit they have a problem without having a nervous breakdown, but they can become love addicts when REJECTED. The experience of being rejected triggers their insecurity and their love addiction. They have no way to handle it so they go nuts. Then they prey, stalk, and kill. This is what is going on when you read about a murder/suicide in the newspapers. This article explains what I am talking about . . . themindsjournal.com/beware-reptilian-narcissist/
