Agape Love
Love is an interesting phenomenon. People have experienced it. People have survived it. People have died for it. People have studied it scientifically. People have described it. Even the Bible describes it. The best we can do is to divide it into categories on a scale from erotic to sublime. I am considered an expert on love and have books to prove it.
What I have come to understand is that the most sustaining and life-fulfilling kind of love is agape. Agape is God's love for us which is perfect, unconditional, and pure. Agape is what we feel for God in return. Agape starts out as an emotion. It then becomes a decision we make to put our love for God first and serve him here on earth.
Sometimes agape love spills over into our human relationships and cures us from the curse of erotic love. I have experienced every type of love described by all the philosophers of the world and found that nothing is more sublime than finding out how much God loves us despite all our sins and loving him in return. No love between human beings comes close to this joy. This is my poem from my new book, Songs of the Soul

God
You gave me life and nurtured my soul.
You prayed for me till I was whole.
You cried for me when I was in pain.
Your tears soothed my sorrow like life-giving rain.
I treated You badly, my anger unfurled.
You always forgave me, despite all I hurled.
Now I've found peace; my spirit is free.
From the depth of my soul, I want to thank Thee.
For I know what a burden I had to have been.
Yet somehow You loved me, despite all my sins.
