Ryan & Vince
Susan Peabody
A week after Frank’s funeral, I got a call from a man named Vincent. Vince asked me if I wanted to go out for lunch. I hesitated because I was still depressed about Frank, but God said to me, “Go.” I had long since learned to follow the lead of God’s voice, so I went. Vince took me to a nice restaurant and we had a great time. I asked him about his family. He told me he had a son who lived with him named Ryan and a wife. I thought, how nice it was that Vince was taking care of his son. Some fathers abandon their sons. I told Vince to bring his son the next time he came to visit me. Then, as I was getting out of the car, I asked him why he had reached out to me. He said, “The last thing Frank said to me was “Take care of my girl.” Then he smiled and drove away. I burst out in tears and thanked God, once again, for his many blessings. Today, Ryan, Vince, and I still go out once a week and have a great time. We support each other through the good times and bad. The God stories we tell each other once a week is what inspired this book. God is good—through good times and bad.
