Cancer

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.”
Matthew 7:7
When I had cancer, I was sent to the Cancer Center in Berkeley in the same hospital where I was born. I took this as a good sign. I did twenty-five radiation treatments and five weeks of chemotherapy. I met a lot of wonderful people and caregivers. I had great doctors, nurses, social workers, and radiation technicians. I was kept comfortable and taken care of as if I was the only patient at the center.
Halfway through the treatment, I had an allergic reaction to the chemotherapy and was put in the hospital for three weeks and then in a nursing home for four weeks where I met more wonderful people.
In 2023, I went into remission. I saw it as a miracle, but a case can be made for the remission coming from the doctors and the treatment. It happens all the time. But this God Story is not about that. You see, the chemotherapy destroyed my kidneys and the doctor said I would probably have to have dialysis eventually. I was devastated because I had just joined the Catholic Church and was looking for some wonderful years ahead with my new friends.
Everybody in my life prayed for me. I was grateful and now I want to announce that the prayers worked. Today, I got the results of my blood test. My kidneys have been restored to one-hundred percent—up from thirty. My creatinine level went from 5.9 to 1.4. Normal is 1.0 The doctor was amazed. She said she had seen kidneys restore themselves before, but never in just a few weeks. I just smiled and handed her a copy of this book. I don’t doubt for a minute that God has healed me.
God is good my friends. No matter how bad things get, God will restore us, or at least comfort us, until it is time to go home.
Seeking Jesus
Answer the door,
When you hear the knock.
It will be a faint sound,
Somewhere deep within your heart.
