I had two dreams as a child. The most important one was to find my Prince Charming, marry him, and raise children. The second was to be a published author. Being a published author seemed out of reach, and less important, so I pursued my first dream. The rest is history. See my story, "The Hungry Heart," the story of my love addiction which almost killed me.
Fast forward to early recovery. My year of sobriety I continued my hunt for Prince Charming. My standards were not very high because of my low self-eteem. This got me nowhere.
In 1985 I decided to pursue my second dream. I wrote an article for the A.A. Grapevine and it got published. This inspired me to keep writing about recovery which led to my book Addiction to Love and all of its sequels.
Now, as I reflect on all of this, I realize that my first dream was too small. God had more in store for me. So, he sent me the gift of writing and I am now living "happily ever after."
