Ambivalent Women
Susan Peabody
When I was growing up in the sixties all a girl wanted was to get married and have a family. There was also some societal pressure to do so. This is no longer true. Since the feminist movement of the seventies women now have wider interests and they feel as if they have a choice to do whatever they want. One interesting result of this is that a lot of women these days are ambivalent. They are just not sure if they want a monogamous relationship and a family. This is a list of the reasons women today are more ambivalent than ever before ▪ Women are afraid of getting hurt "again." ▪ In the past they picked the wrong man. They don't want this to happen again. ▪ They know they are attracted to the wrong type of man, so they get confused. ▪ They have been influenced by love songs. ▪ They want the kind man they see in the movies. ▪ Modern relationships are more complicated and demanding. ▪ They simply are out of touch with what they want. ▪ They listen to other ambivalent women and get confused. ▪ They are more interested in their career. ▪ They are holding out for the "perfect man" who does not exist. ▪ They say they want a "nice" man but then they are not attracted to such men. ▪ They value the excitement of passion more than compatibility. ▪ They are obsessed with finding the man of their childhood dreams.
