Sometimes our destiny comes to us like pieces in a puzzle. The dream does not come true until we put all the pieces together.
Today, I write and publish books, but that is the end of the story.
In 1958, when I was ten years old, I started my first blog. Back then we called it a diary.
When I was in high school, I won an essay contest. This began my dream to become a writer.
In high school I wrote everything by hand, but in my sophomore year something told me to take a typing class.
In college, I took classes in creative writing and began to fine tune my writing skills.
After college a took a class in word processing and was able to easily edit my writings. This was a pivotal moment.
In 1985, I wrote an article for a magazine called the AA Grapevine and it got published.
In 1986, I created a class that I called Addiction to Love.
Every week, I wrote a short article for the class.
In 1987, my class notes and articles became a book.
In 1989, my book published.
In 1990, I wanted to create a website.
I asked five people to help me, and they were all too busy.
I took three classes about how to create a website to promote my work.
I created a website by the name of brightertomorrow.net
I put all the pieces of my recovery writings on my website and then a message board.
In 1995, I needed some money, so I started a business called Camera Ready Copy.
I taught myself how to prepare manuscripts for publication, including page layout.
In 1987, I put all these skills together and became a publisher (Brighter Tomorrow Publishing.
So far, I have published seven books.
Dreams do come true if you put in the work and don't expect them to happen overnight.
