After the joy and peace of my spiritual awakening receded (it has never completely left), I felt like a different person. Almost immediately, I could tell that my desire to change had been given a big boost. Changing no longer felt like a chore; it felt like an opportunity. I was full of energy, excitement, and courage. I wanted with all of my heart to be a better person.
This new excitement about changing was accompanied by other gifts from God that promoted my growth such as more patience and an intuitive sense of what I needed to do to change. My spirituality also acted like a magnet drawing in information. I met people who would tell me exactly what I needed to hear. Books practically dropped off the library shelf into my lap. Joseph Campbell describes this manifestation of spirituality when he says that invisible hands will come to our aid when we are on the right path.
