I was sponsoring someone in AA. I think it has turned co-dependent. She broke up with her drunk boyfriend 10 times and this last time when she got back together with him I had a fit. Did not seem appropropriate. Felt codependent. I said she had to choose me or him. I meant "recovery" or "him," but I think it was a Freudian slip indicating the kind of possessiveness codependents feel. She chose him of course so I am taking a break from the merry-go-round of her getting together with him, kicking him out, getting drunk herself, calling me to help her get sober and then taking him back again. But we talked everyday so I miss her. I am going to look for a way to fill the void.

Best of luck to you. I think you know not to enable her by always being there for her. You have a right to say "no more" and take care of yourself.
