When anger festers it becomes a resentment (anger revisited). Resentments grow if you feed them and dwindle if you don't feed them.
In AA I was taught that anger was ok but resentments will lead you back to the bottle.
Forgiveness is the antidote to resentments. To kick start the process we are asked in AA to pray to God everyday for two weeks that the person you are trying to forgive gets everything he wants or needs.
Monty feels like he is the victim. I feel like I am the victim. To break the stalemate I want to pray . . .
Dear Lord: Please watch over Monty. Give him everything he wants or needs. Give him parenting skills. Give him wisdom. Help and guide him. I mean this with a sincere heart because if Monty if happy that generosity just might spill over into my life.
Amen.
This prayer is from Susie (my inner child) and she is the pure one in this family.
I love this picture because I really looked like this in the 1940's.

Hugs Susan. You are so strong. So much going on and you find your way through with your HP. I admire you and am very thankful that you are on this Earth. Your are a gift. I hope Monty can appreciate this. One day, when the girls need a strong woman to help them out with relationship issues, you will be there. Your time to be with them and to be there for them will come. Trust in your HP. MBM

A beautiful poem from my son Karl on my sixty second birthday . . .
The Angel of Motherhood
Karl McKnight
To weary arms, to forgotten psalms, God's loving Angel gently comes: No power has she to make us fly, Or always wipe the tears we cry; And yet in tenderest love, mommy dear And Heavenly Savior sends her here.
There's mercy in that Angel's smile, Where faith abides all the while! She mocks no pain with idle word Nor discourage the flight of the fledgling bird; But ills and woes she may not cure She kindly trains us to endure.
Angel of Motherhood! sent to nurture Our laden shoulders with cooling scripture; To calm the storms of broken dreams, And reconcile the soul's torn seams; The flank against our wounded pride, And support our own savior's rise!
Oh! You who struggle along the way, With fears until the close of day; She binds the wounds that Angel's pain And gently whispers "Withstand the rain Look up, move on, your sufferings pure The dear Lord promised we shall endure!"
I love you Mom, Happy Mother's Day!

I don't just admire Mother Theresa because of all the charity she did (although that was wonderful), but because after she died they discovered letters she wrote that talked about how she had felt abandoned by got and experienced depression. I can really identify with this. But God told her to serve the poor and she did. Amen

God has asked one thing of me. To hang in there. One day at a time, one breath at a time.

It is now 2014 and I just got back from Hailey's eighth grade graduation. She was the class president and straight A student. But my heart ached. I could not wrap my brain around the fact that Kathy was not there to see her baby give her beautiful speech. But life goes on. I am so proud of Hailey. Attachments:
